Tough medical news

My three nephews live in Sacramento CA, and for the last two years, the youngest, Josh, has been batteling a kidney disease that requires a kidney transplant. For two years, we have believed that his dad, Chad, (my brother-in-law) would be able to donate a kidney to him. We recently found out that since Josh's issue is genetic, that there is a risk of re-occurrence if a close relative donates. Now we are waiting to see if Josh will be matched with a donor from the general list of donors, and looking for other possibilities in terms of kidney donation. These are some tough times for our family, but we are pulling together to get through this.

The end of an era - Ziggy Mont

It is with great sadness that I post about the passing of our dog Ziggy who was loved by all who knew him In the words of Dave, he was a "damn fine dog" and had many fans across WA. He passed peacefully and was able to walk and sniff until the very end. He will be sorely missed.

Skiing at Mt. Baker

We had fun (except for Bill) skiing up at Mt. Baker in crappy rainy weather. Steve, Paul, and Bill made the trip from Seattle to enjoy the great views from the mountain.

Today our friends Brian and Claudio came visit us here in Bellingham.  We had spent the week in Squamish from June 30-July 3rd climbing with the dogs. We came home on the 3rd, and went to a BBQ and 4th of July fireworks the next day.  Today we hiked to Cedar Lake from the Pine and Cedar Lakes Trailhead on Old Samish Road and went to the Farmer's market.  The market on Saturday is great with lots of live music, veggies, and other local items.
